Looking for something to read?

Figured for a follow up post I would post some means of getting great books for little to no money. I can't believe that I am actually posting this close together it must be a first for any of my attempted blogs.

Hopefully someone will find the following examples helpful and will be enjoying a good book tonight or here shortly.

If you do not already own a Library Card to your local Library go get one now. YES! They still do exist and they get new books everyday. New Releases and Classics can all be found here and you will be able to find whatever genre you are looking for there. As long as you have a picture ID for the state you live in, your local library card should be free and you can begin enjoying a book tonight.

Have a book shelf full of old books that you just don't know what to do with because you have read them over and over again. Well that is pretty similar to the problem the wife and I had. Then we found two great websites called paperbackswap.com and bookmooch.com . These websites require you to list books that you are willing to part with and then mail them to a person who requests one. You will receive credits to use towards books that you will then request from other people.

Paperbackswap.com asks you to list ten books at the start of your collection and they reward you with 2 credits in doing so. The only cost for you out of pocket is when you have to send the book off to whoever requests it, but this is a much smaller cost than buying a brand new book. Media Mail the suggested means of mailing can cost from $10 to $1.50 depending on the weight of the book. I haven't shipped anything over $4 so far.

Bookmooch.com allows you to post as many books as you want in the beginning but in order to get 2 credits like Paperbackswap.com gives you, you would have to list 20 books as they give you .1 point for every book listed. They also require you to keep up a 2:1 ratio of books sent and books mooched (received).

There are benefits to both and this is a way to share your collection with others and declutter your book shelf. Hope this posting will turn some people on to these sites and you can start swapping books with other people. Enjoy!
